Concert this Saturday
I'm going to be stage manager at an upcoming concert promoted by The False Front Co. The show will benefit the family of Forrest Rings, who recently passed away.
It's this coming Saturday, August 21, 2010. It is located at the Oasis Bar in Thousand Palms, CA at 32025 Monterey Ave. on the corner of Ramon Rd.

The door cover is $10. Like I said, the profits will go to the family of the deceased to help cover funeral costs.
Artists performing will include The Crooks, Urgent Care, Pigeon Toad, and more TBA.

Where are we now?
I don't even know if anyone is still following us, we've been pretty dead for a while now. I just felt like explaining why to any one who still cares.
Last year, I booked and promoted a series of concerts with incredibly popular bands. Bands like Hoods, Jamie's Elsewhere, Redeemer, Energy, Living With Lions, and tons of other awesome groups.
So what happened? In spite of promoting the gigs with thousands of handbills, myspace and facebook ads, posters, and newspaper listings, less than 50 people showed up every time.
I've never made money doing concerts. I just love doing them. I love the music, I love bands I meet, I love the people that come and support the music scene in the Coachella Valley (which is so fragile).
But this really hurt me. Because I didn't get enough people to show up, I lost about $2000 over the course of 6 months time. This certainly helped along the financial situation which led to the foreclosure of my home.
I've given so much for this music scene, but this really devastated me. It called my abilities into question. It drained me emotionally for months.
It's been a year since my last show.
I love live music, I love doing this. I've been doing this for about 10 years. But I think I need to start from scratch.
But I need help. I have a few good people that have helped me out in the past, but it's always been Christopher and myself doing these events. I'm all alone now as Christopher has moved to LA to work in the music industry. So I need a few things:
Do you want live concert events?
Will you come to the concerts?
Who do you want to see play?
Will you bring your friends?
I basically need to know if there's any life at all in the scene here.
Thanks for your years of support
Steven

Wait What - juicy-r
This is a sweet mash-up of The XX's "VCR" and the Notorious BIG's "Juicy."
